Located about 90km from chengannur, Sabarimala is one of the most famous pilgrim centres in India. The temple is dedicated to Sri Ayyappa and is held by millions as a very sacred spot. The pilgrimage season starts in November and ends in January.
The temple is open for worship only during the days of Mandalapooja (approximately 15 November to 26 December), Makaravilakku or "Makara Sankranti" (14 January) and Maha Vishuva Sankranti (14 April), and the first five days of each Malayalam month.
The Mahavishnu Temple, Thrichittatt, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Supreme God Vishnu and located in Chengannur, Alappuzha District, Kerala, South India. Parumala church is the tomb church of Saint Geevarghese Mar Gregorios or Parumala Thirumeni. He died on 2 November 1902 at the age of 54. Many testimonies to the saintly intercession of Mar Gregorios made Parumala Church and the tomb a centre of pilgrimage.
